Brigham Development, LLC is a privately held fully integrated real estate developer that specializes in design, development, build-to-suit needs and sale-leaseback financing for oilfield service companies, manufacturers, distributors and retail services currently needed in and around the markets that are being positively impacted by the North American resource plays. Brigham Development is headquartered in Austin, Texas and founded by Bud Brigham and former management team members from Brigham Exploration Company following the company’s sale to Statoil.

Founder and CEO

Bud Brigham founded Brigham Exploration Company in 1990 and served as its President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board until its sale to Statoil ASA in December 2011. As founder and CEO, Bud managed Brigham Exploration Company’s rapid growth as a private company from an initial investment of $25,000 in 1990 to its initial public offering in 1997. After 1997, Brigham Exploration continued to achieve low finding costs while achieving significant growth in reserves, production, and cash flow. Brigham Exploration was a leading innovator in the Williston Basin, Bakken, and Three Forks oil resource plays and was the first operator in the basin to drill a long-lateral, high-frac stage well substantially expanding the play into far western North Dakota. The Company accumulated 375,000 net acres in the Williston Basin and had drilled approximately 100 long-lateral, high-frac stage wells prior to its sale to Statoil ASA in December 2011 for $4.5 billion.

Bud Brigham subsequently founded Anthem Ventures as his family office, Brigham Development for its real estate ventures, and Anthem Productions for its movie ventures. Bud teamed with other former Brigham Exploration employees to found Brigham Resources and Brigham Minerals for oil and gas investments primarily targeting horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing in domestic, unconventional reservoirs. Brigham Resources built an 80,000 net acre position in the Southern Delaware Basin and subsequently sold its position to Diamondback Energy in February 2017 for $2.5 billion.

Prior to Brigham Exploration, Bud served for six years as an exploration geophysicist with Rosewood Resources, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company. Bud began his career in Houston as a seismic data processing geophysicist for Western Geophysical, a provider of 3-D seismic services, after earning his B.S. in Geophysics from The University of Texas. Bud is a member of the National Petroleum Council, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the Independent Producers Association of America (IPAA), the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES), and The Bureau of Economic Geology Visiting Committee. He was inducted into the All-American Wildcatters in April 2012, and, in April 2015, Bud accepted and joined The University of Texas Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee. Bud received the Oil & Gas Investors 2016 Deal of the Year Award for the sale of Brigham Resources’ Southern Delaware position to Diamondback Energy.

Dave Carter

President

Dave Carter currently serves as President of Brigham Development, since November 2013 has been a senior management team member and joint venture partner with Brigham Development where he has used his vast experience and contacts in sourcing and executing commercial real estate and investment opportunities. With over 30 years of successful business development experience resulting in significant value creation involving over $4 billion in commercial real estate, totaling 100 million square feet nationwide. He is involved in all major investment, acquisition, dispositions and asset management decisions. He is responsible for value fund development and sits on Brigham Developments acquisition and disposition committees.

Mr. Carter started his career in 1984 spending 10 years in the consulting side of the business, during which time he completed consulting assignments for all types of commercial property including multi-family, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, special use and undeveloped land. Experience included consulting assignments for national and international institutional owners of real estate. During this period he received his MAI (Member of Appraisal Institute) designation. He furthered his consulting experience with a tenure at CB Richard Ellis the world's premier, full-service real estate services company.

Following this Mr. Carter held executive level positions with a $4 Billion division of GE Capital and Commercial Net Lease a $1.3 Billion REIT (now known as National Retail Properties).

Thad Decker

Chief Development Officer

Thad Decker serves a Chief Development Officer for Brigham Development. Thad has over 25 years of experience designing and managing construction of numerous building types, including luxury resorts and clubs throughout the world. His experience assures quality projects that provide value to the investor.

Prior to Joining Brigham Development, he founded Decker Design and Development PC, a multi-disciplinary architectural and project management firm in Arlington, Texas which focused on retail, commercial and hospitality projects. Decker Design was the architect for Brigham Exploration’s Williston Office. Other Decker Design Williston projects include facilities for Select Energy, the Western Company of Texas, Nabors Drilling (interiors consultant), Village Commercial Laundry, and Williston Gooseneck. In addition to commercial work, Decker Design worked with Bud Brigham on the design of the homes the in the Brigham Development subdivision in Williston and on two luxury houses for displaced Texans living in Williston.

Prior to Decker Design, Thad was a partner with SVJ+ Architects in Dallas, where he was Director of Design. SVJ+ provided architectural and construction management services to hospitality and country club clients worldwide. SVJ+ was acknowledged as one of the premier hospitality design firms in the county, with numerous awards and publications. Thad has a BArch from Texas Tech University and is currently licensed to practice architecture in Texas and North Dakota.

Wendell Heathcock

Chief Construction Officer

Mr. Heathcock, since December of 2017 has served as Chief Construction Officer with Brigham Development. He is responsible for the construction and execution all of Brigham Developments projects.

Mr. Heathcock served over 20 years in the United State Air Force. His last job in the military took him to a classified location in Nevada where he served as the Superintendent of Range Telecommunications. While here he led a highly skilled and self-motivated Air Force Engineering and Installation team. He and his team were responsible for many top-level DoD national security projects. During his military career Mr. Heathcock served overseas short tours as well as CONUS assignments. Soon after concluding his military career he served as a Senior Engineer for Raytheon Special Projects, doing similar work as a contractor before moving back to his home state of Texas. From 2000-2012 Mr. Heathcock went on to work as a senior engineer at Level3 Communications where he helped oversee mergers of acquired company assets onto Level3’s nationwide fiber optics backbone. Most recently he worked as a superintendent at Wyeth Custom Homes from 2012-2017, where he was in charge of finishing out multi-million dollar custom homes. Mr. Heathcock’s education includes Community College of the Air Force, as well as attending several Senior Military and Civilian Leadership schools.
